I’ve heard the concept of God’s justice to mean that those bad people over there are surely going to get what they deserve and thankfully, us good people here are going to get the good things we deserve. God’s glory is more fully explained by seeing God’s justice as meaning that none of us are going to get what we deserve. But the first (and incorrect) approach leads to performance-based living where we are constantly keeping score of ourselves and other people, to make sure that everyone is getting what they deserve.
For me personally, I’ve thought that being good was going to bring blessings. Then I had a life-altering experience where I was blatantly doing some bad things and yet God was still blessing me. I was so blown away. God’s character is to love and to bless. Our character is to be human. Yet the character of God and the Spirit within us can transform these days we’re living now. Turning pain, disconnect, shame, and fear on their head. And replacing them with love, peace, joy, and unity.
I hope this encourages you! Love to you! ❤️ MS
